Our Story

Born in Fiji to parents and descendants of pioneer traders, Bobby Raniga and his brothers, Ravin and Ajay, have taken the family business to a new level focusing on tourism-related retailing and services.

Based in the tourism capital of Fiji, Nadi, Tiara Enterprises Pte Limited (Tiara ), a family-owned business established in 1982, was driven to a new destination in 1991 when Bobby left his successful law practice and took over leadership. He has also served as a Director of the Fiji Revenue & Customs Authority of Fiji and the Reserve Bank of Fiji.

Knowing the importance of a ‘general store’ to families and guests in resorts and hotels, Tiara set up and operated 3 shops at The Regent of Fiji and Sheraton Fiji Resort , both premium hotels situated on Denarau Island in Nadi.

Venture

With the success of the general stores in the resorts and hotels in the West, the family felt it was time to branch out into downtown retailing with its first flagship store in Main St, Nadi under the name and style of SOGO  FIJI.  It became an instant hit with both tourists and locals who found a new dimension in shopping with many ‘got to have’ products in trendy fashion and resort wear, accessories, and souvenirs under one roof.  Exciting, colorful, and instantly popular with its modern, fresh outlook that was unparalleled to anything else the market had to offer at that time, SOGO FIJI expanded to the capital city of Suva, the coastal town of Sigatoka and the country’s second city Lautoka.

Concurrently, expansion continued in the hospitality arena where Tiara won rights to operate General stores and boutique stores at almost all major resorts in the country, including the Departure and Transit  Lounges at Nadi International Airport.

In February 2006, Tiara Enterprises Limited envisioned a future with another successful business house in Fiji, the Tappoo Group, and a joint venture was struck between the two families.  Tiara Enterprises Limited transferred all it’s retail outlets , and Tappoo’s, all it’s resort owned shops, to a Tappoo subsidiary company, BULOW INVESTMENTS (PTE) LIMITED . Tappoos’ formidable buying power,  their state of the art POS systems and back of house supervisory and internal audit functions combined with the Raniga’s trading history and community leadership were some key factors in both family companies synergizing into Fiji’s first specialist tourism retailer at premium hotels and resorts.
